Determination!!

Another week, another poster!  This one just might be finished...
I wanted to share it here today because I am really happy with the outcome.
As of right now, I can't think of anything else that it needs
but that doesn't mean that I won't tweak it somewhere down the line.

Needless to say, it won't be on sale anytime soon.

Shine? In a sun?!  Why did I do this?  Well, let me tell you... 

I had this idea about making a poster with a sun

and I wanted it to have meaning behind it...

So the reason for this poster being made is quite simply... 

Shine as BIG and as BRIGHT as the sun.

Find what you love and go big.

My Top Ten Songs to Inspire... #2

The second song that inspires me is a song from the Narnia soundtrack (Prince Caspian).  "The Call" by Regina Spektor.

This song gives me hope that just because things change...  just because people may leave... you always have those memories.  You can always think back to those times.  
"Pick a star on the dark horizon and follow the light.." This is one of my favorite lines in this song.  The way I illustrated this line is different because I didn't include a star, but you get the picture.  Following the light is key.

My Top Ten Songs That Inspire... Intro + Song # 1

I have decided to create a series of posts for you all.  I know that I get inspired by music and I'm sure I am not the only one.  Throughout the next week or two (depending how quickly I can work) I am going to be posting ten sections of this series.  A song and how it inspires me.  

First song... One of my very favorites that can easily put me in the most positive mood!

When I think of this song, I think of anything that makes me FEEL GOOD.  I think about starting over.  New beginnings. "...a new dawn ... a new day..." 


So, I came up with a quick little sketch in Adobe Illustrator.

Pretty much an abstract view of a sun rise, birds included!

Introducing the Artsy Fartsy Magazine... Kinda.

While flipping through magazines, my favorite part is looking at the layout and how it flows throughout.  I notice what makes a good magazine is if it flows nicely.  Using the same font throughout, combining things with shapes, and color schemes.

I have always found it fascinating how magazines are put together, so for this next project I have created a mock magazine cover.  You'll notice that I changed the color of this blog, well I took the idea from this.

So, now.. Think of Artsy Fartsy as a magazine.  Let's just pretend. :)

Oh, yeah!  Finally was able to get a new computer and I... Love... It.

Project 7, Daisy Inspired design

Daisies are a very pretty flower, even though it's quite simple at first glance.  For this next project, I wanted to digitally create a picture using daisies.  There isn't much to it, just daisies.  Repeated over and over.  I hope you find it interesting, though.

First thing I did was hand sketch a daisy out in my sketch book to get the feel about how a daisy looks.  Afterward, I was able to draw the daisy using the pen tool in Illustrator on the computer.  The rest is pretty mush self-explanatory.   I was thinking about getting rid of the actual word daisy. However, I felt you couldn't really read what it said.  It just looked like a smooosh of daisy clutter.  That's right, a smooosh.

Have any ideas of how I could have changed it around?
Would you have done anything differently?

There wasn't really much of a point to this piece.  Just fun.

Project #5: "Express Yourself with Art."

When I created this, I was thinking about how in some schools, they always feel the need to cut the arts, whether it be music or art.  The academic classes are important, yes, but so are the arts.  For some kids, it is a way to be expressive and show who they are.

   Hello again!  I am editing this post to inform everyone (as I had found out myself not long ago) that today and tomorrow (April 5) is Arts Advocacy Day!  What is this, you may ask?

Well, Arts Advocacy Day is a day to support the arts when leaders in the arts travel to Washington DC to show the importance to funding the arts to Congress.
