"Leaving the Ball!" a new painting.

I finally get to show you this painting that I've been working on!
I shared a sneak peak quite some time ago and I've been excited to finish it since that time.

I wish the picture did it more justice but there you go! 

Appropriately called "Leaving the Ball" because I wanted something inspired by (wait for it...) Cinderella but not exactly.  I didn't want the missing shoe and I didn't want her leaving in a rush.  She's leaving in a daze; a happy daze, of course. Well, at least in my mind. That's why her right hand is out like that; not really caring.  (:

 What do you think?  

I wanted 'fairy lights' in the bushes and a rose vine all over the edge of the cement wall.  I think that's what I mainly wanted from the start when I did a quick sketch.

WHOA; a sneak peak.

Being an artist is fun but proving that you are passionate about art and that you want it as a career can be hard..

especially you have a full time job in something else, trying to make a living.  

 I try to dedicate some time to creating something on the weekends. 

I've been working on this painting for awhile now but I don't want to show it yet.  

That is why the above picture is a jumbled mess. I made a collage with my iPad

 for a sneak peak that probably doesn't show you much. 

I don't know when I will be done but I think soon...

Like, I REALLY think so.

You guys, I really am excited about this painting!  Super excited.

What will I do with it when I am done?

I don't know.  Do I sell it?

Do I keep it and admire from a far?

Try to get it into a gallery?

Help is needed, please! :)

Works In Progress [ w i p ] // M o n o c h r o m a t i c blue & sparkly WATER?

So I started this series a couple of months ago thinking I was going to post every week.  I should have known this wouldn't have happened.  You see, I don't always have the inspiration to paint.  I usually would rather focus my energy into creating something else that I have a better idea for and once I get the inspiration back for this painting, I'd continue it.

 Anywho, after that long intro I shall get into it!  If you wanted to compare what I did in the last post to this post view feel free to [here].

I definitely want to stick with the monochromatic theme going on.  I want to keep with the 'cool' feeling because the sparkles [to me] helps it to feel a little more magical-like.

What do you think... Do you think it needs more glitter?  I may add more glitter throughout the new strand of random ....water?  I don't know really why I decided to make it look like it was pouring into the glittery abyss.  I thought it needed something to tie both sections (top and bottom) together.  Just know, more depth will be added to that part.

As you can see by this picture to the left while you are reading this, I snuck in my usual 'make art'.  Instead of having it with just normal letters, it needed to be more artsy with the use of the brush strokes.

Just wanted to update you on what progress I have made with this.

So far I like where it's going.  When I am complete with this, I will explain my artist statement for this painting. :)  Keep checking back!!

WIP: Monochromatic and Mixed Media Painting.

I've wanted to do something like this for awhile now, and I just recently started a new painting so it seems like the perfect time to start my WIP (works in progress) posts.  As I go through working on this project, I'll take you along, ask for advice, and we shall see what else!

 For awhile I wanted to incorporate glitter into a painting.  This will probably end up being a more abstract piece but I like where it's going so far.

The glitter seems to be sticking pretty well.  Before I painted the glitter on, I totally spilled the container all over my desk.  Klutzy moment (story of my life, haha).

I definitely want to keep my brush strokes visible.  I feel like those add character to a painting.

I'm not too sure what I'm going to do now to it as a whole but I know how I'm going to paint the canvas sides.  Of course, I know how I'm going to finish it but how to get there?  I'm still working on it.

In the mean time, this is what I have so far.  I'll be back with an update.   Who knows when that'll be. :)

I'm adding this picture just because I thought it was a cool shot. 

Hope.  Something you always have.  When painting the word 'hope', in my mind, you really don't need much.  The word stands for a lot on its own.  Add a bright color behind, and voila. Hope.

Well, I'm still looking around for a job in my field.  Any job related to design would work.  I won't lose hope, though.  Neither should you.

A glimpse into my painting box...

Welcome to my, erm, Painting box.  It's small, but does it's purpose!  In this post I'm going to show you where I keep my acrylic paints and accessories.

All in this box I keep my pallette paper (so much easier than keeping a regular pallette!), paint brushes, cup, paper towels and assorted acrylic paints.  I'm not sure why I have a glue bottle, but I have that in there, too.

Another Cinderella [Castle] Story

Yep. Another artwork with some representation of that gorgeous castle sitting at Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World.  Or it feels like I have a lot.  This acrylic painting was actually a gift I made a friend of mine for her birthday last week.  The main thing that is different than my other castles, is the position.

Less detail, only a piece of it and I hope when you see it, you know what castle I am referring to in the painting.  I don't know why, but when I am ever in doubt of what to paint/draw.. I tend to go with the castle, but I am always looking for other ways to do this.  Not just the normal full view.

Make Art, Not War

I'm not sure who started this lovely phrase, but it's one of my favorites, of course.  A play on words from the "Make Love, Not War" it tells people that it is best to create some kind of art than to fight.  Which leads me to why Arts in schools is important.  (Do not allow arts in your schools to be cut!!)  Any type of art allows kids another way to show what they mean and express themselves.
