Blue Beads for Spring!

It's been awhile since I posted a necklace.  I've been getting so much inspiration for jewelry design.  Without further ado, my latest creation:

I had gotten these blue disc like beads about a month ago at a craft store and I thought it would make a really cute spring necklace.  How was I going to do this?  I don't know.  At first I was planning on incorporating some pink wire throughout it, but that didn't work out.  So what I did was put it in my bead box and went on to something else.  I would go back to it later.

I feel like that's the best option when you are working on something and it's not working out.  Clearing your mind from it for a little while can work out to your advantage.  It gives you a chance to think of another option to complete the project.

Some people work better just plowing on through.  Whichever works, go with it.  I usually need to step away from my work, even if it's for about an hour or so.

You may have also noticed that I recently put together my etsy shop.  So far it's going along well!  I love how you can create coupon codes to help with the cost to your buyers.

Turquoise Beaded Bracelet and more!

Well, bits of it is turquoise, anyway.  The beads that I found first and knew I wanted to create something with it. 

This is definitely a different bracelet.  

I tried a couple different patterns before

deciding on this one. 

I was actually going to try to work mainly in wire for jewelry, 

but I saw those big beads and I loved them!  

I tend to take forever looking through beads, trying to come up with different styles in my head.  That's what I have for today.  Hopefully some wire jewelry will be posted soon...

....dun dun dun duuuun... Working with wire is a little tricky. :) :)

Crashing through that Artist Block + More Handmade Costume Jewelry

Man, that was a long post title.  Possibly my longest title?  Possibly THE longest title? Erm, yeah, anyway...

I have finally been able to make more costume jewelry.  I've found that the best way to get through an 'artist block' is my just pulling through.  Crashing through.  Pow .. bang..  poosh .. poosh?  Yeah, I don't know.  Writing anything that comes to mind in an idea book or sketch pad works.  So, I say always have one handy.  I actually use an idea book where I write and doodle in.  Ok, so I guess it's the same thing as a sketch pad.. It's only lined.  Whenever I carried a sketch pad around, I was always so focused on drawing something good in it, I guess.  I never really used mine for ideas, except for class, but this way works well for me, the idea book. 

Anywho, here are the jewelry pieces I've came up with:

Necklace!

If one is looking for a hobby, I totally recommend jewelry making if you have the patience to stick with it to get it looking how you want it.  It's quite fun when you get the hang of it. :)

This necklace ends up being approx. 13 inches.  I really like long necklaces.
The clasp at the top is with a silver circle clasp.  Is that the proper term? lol.
Other than the clasp, the materials used were the glass pearls,
 small green 'shimmery' beads and clear stetchy cord.

Fall Inspired Jewelry

When I think of fall inspired jewelry, I think of greens, bronze, and different nuteral colors.  Looking at the leaves changing colors on the trees is a great inspiration. 

I thought the green bead added a little something to the bracelet over all.  Both parts are connected.

I made one more necklace that is a bit different, but I kind of, really like it.  I'm just not sure what you would wear it with. haha.



I apologize my lighting is bad.  I'll see if I can fix that.

Castle sketch and a few favorite art items...

I thought I'd do a post on my favorite art supplies/art whatevers I've had for the past month or so.  Here we go!

"The Imagineering Workout"

• This is a book that I had talked about in my favorite books to inspire series.  Sometimes I need a little inspiration and this book helps.  Great book to keep ideas moving. 

Watercolor tubes

• I've wanted to try watercolor painting again lately and recently I went to the store and bought tubes of watercolor.  I've never actually used tubes before, and I was pleasently surprised.  Totally reccommend.

Glass beads and the design board

 

• When you go into the craft or bead section of a store, if you happen to find the glass beads, pick them up and make a beautiful necklace, or bracelet.  Of course, if you like the look.  I have been loving these lately.  If you don't like the look, just make something with it and it give out as a gift for someone who will like it.  Seriously.  I'll have to make a seperate post for the ones I did make.
• The design board you see in the picture is a platform where you can figure out how many beads are needed in the necklace/bracelet/anklet and for you to figure on a design.
